Using the principles of the circular economy and production with zero waste, Nasekomo produces innovative, high quality and sustainable insect products that are used in the feed and agricultural industries. The company breeds the Black Soldier fly for the conversion of plant waste into biomass, which is then transformed into an alternative protein used for animal and fish feed. The process described above is called insect bioconversion and involves feeding the fly larvae waste and plant by-products.

The products they currently produce are insect proteins and fats for inclusion in animal feed, as well as organic fertilizer for agricultural use. They are developing their production in Elin Pelin, where they already have a small factory, as well as an insect selection center, which employs 28 people - experts from various fields such as biology, entomology, agtech, industrialization, IT, operations, production and others. From the end of 2020, the company plans to expand production and increase capacity by 25 times, thanks to its modular, automated and robotic technologies for insect breeding.

Nasekomo is the first company to produce sustainable insect products in all of Southeast Europe and one of five in the EU that already have the necessary permits to sell their products to customers.

In the future, they plan to position themselves as a producer of both insect bioconversion technology and genetically selected larvae. With these plans, they aim to make it possible for other companies to enter the industry for the production of insect products, thus multiplying the positive effect of their industry on sustainable development on a global scale. In 2050, this effect will be expressed in savings of 25 million. tons of carbon dioxide emissions, 33 mil. tons of wild fish, and will handle 136 million tons of waste annually.
